I’m Benji Heywood, full-time Director of Ultimate at the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I sit on the WFDF rules committee, and the UK SotG committee, and was Competitions Manager at both WU23 2015 and WUGC 2016. I also do some coach education for UK Ultimate whenever courses run in Scotland.
Above all, I’m a nerd with a scientific mindset, and I like to understand the real detail of what we do in Ultimate – the techniques, the tactics, the drills, the psychology… This blog is both a place to share my thoughts and a chance for me to learn from you. Comments welcome!
Why am I doing this? Honestly, it’s because I love to talk, and the internet is a great place to find people who are prepared to listen…

Hiya – I don’t think I’ll be writing much more. I’ve been dealing with migraines for a few years now, and can’t really concentrate for long enough to write stuff without making myself dizzy. I also can’t catch, can’t track a disc into the hands without being dizzy. So no more ultimate. If I wrote something, it’d be disc golf.
